On Sunday, October 26, 2025, USC ITE competed in the Southern California ITE Student Traffic Bowl and brought home the title for the third time since 2017. The event, hosted by Cal Poly Pomona's ITE chapter, featured five student chapters across two semifinals and one final round. Andrew Keefer, Tyler Milliren, and Trevor Wong competed for the USC team, with Professor Shen and Mrs. Shen cheering them on from the crowd.

UCI, Cal State Fullerton, and Cal State Long Beach competed in the first semifinal game, with UCI coming out on top with a score of 1,650. USC then went head-to-head with Cal Poly Pomona in the second semifinal round. Although USC lost 2,100 to 2,800, the highest scoring non-winner from either semifinal round moves on to the finale. As a result, USC advanced to the final round to compete against UCI and Cal Poly Pomona.

Despite trailing for most of the final round against the dominant Cal Poly Pomona team, USC gained some ground in a Taylor Swift category, and with the help of some daily doubles. Going into the final Jeopardy question, the scores were 4,900 (Cal Poly Pomona), 3,100 (USC), and -300 (UCI). Only USC and Cal Poly Pomona were eligible to compete in the final question, making this year’s finale an exact repeat of last year.

The final question proved to be the turning point as it focused on sign colors in the California MUTCD. USC’s preparation paid off, and after wagering all 3,100 points, delivered the correct response of 11. With a score of 6,200, USC ITE sealed the victory. Cal Poly Pomona put up a strong challenge throughout the competition, making the finale a respectful rematch of last year’s closing round.

USC ITE thoroughly enjoyed the event, and thanks Cal Poly Pomona and the SoCal ITE team for putting on this yearly tradition. We look forward to competing in the Western District Student Traffic Bowl in January!
